With the new Cross Timbers school year just over a month away, you’re probably getting excited to bring your child to preschool in Owasso for the first time. You’ve taken care of all the enrollment details, and know you’re looking forward to their first day. It’s a big transition for your entire family, and it’s understandable if you’re a bit nervous about it. We want to do whatever we can to help you as a parent adjust to your child being in school, just as you child will adjust as they begin their academic career.

There are a few things you can to to prepare your child for preschool. If they haven’t spent much time with other kids (aside from their siblings) schedule a few play dates with friends and provide them with important social interaction. Also, if your child is showing some anxiety at starting school, talk to him or her about what to expect, instead of just saying, “It will be fine.” Your child is entering a new and unknown environment, and having some idea of what will happen can help ease their fears. Be sure they know that you’ll be there to drop them off on the first day, and to pick them up when the day is over.

At Cross Timbers, we are excited for a new school to start, and if you’re child is entering preschool in Owasso this fall, we hope they’re as excited as we are. Take the time to talk them about school and what it will be like, and we know that they will quickly adjust and make new friends, all while learning and growing in fantastic ways.
